About Xin Miao Charity

The Xin Miao Charity is the first domestic special project jointly initiated and founded by the Guangdong Youth Development Foundation and the Xinmiao Scoliosis Expert Team in 2010 under the leadership and support of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and Sun Yat-Sen University. This project includes special funds, expert teams and screening teams, and focuses on scoliosis surgery assistance, conservative treatment assistance and scoliosis screening.

In the course of ten years of promoting public welfare, the Xin Miao Charity aims at “Accurate and Efficient Screening, Timely and Effective Treatment, and Minimizing the Incidence of Severe Scoliosis and Surgery”. This project cooperates with a number of local public welfare organizations located in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen etc., to provide public welfare assistance for surgery and conservative treatment for 300+ poor scoliosis patients;

This project has started the country’s largest scoliosis screening and popular education in schools with a total of 2 million+ people, promoted the establishment of a comprehensive prevention & control model for adolescents’ scoliosis screening, diagnosis and treatment, and also actively promoted the comprehensive scoliosis screening program nationwide. This project has completed innovative three-step process of public welfare from rescue to traceability, from screening to prevention & control, and from regional to national, creating a new progressive development path for public welfare.

Their Pain Point and our Solution

(1) “Xin Miao Charity”, the first project focusing on the scoliosis prevention and treatment in China

The “Xin Miao Charity” is the first domestic special project jointly initiated and founded by the Guangdong Youth Development Foundation and the Xinmiao Scoliosis Expert Team in 2010 under the leadership and support of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and Sun Yat-Sen University. This project includes special funds, expert teams and screening teams, and focuses on scoliosis surgery assistance, conservative treatment assistance and scoliosis screening.

“Guang Dong Sheng Xin Miao Ji Zhu Ce Wan Yu Fang Zhong Xin” was established in 2016, led by the experts come from multiple disciplines such as epidemiology, scoliosis screening, medical training, bracing, intensive rehabilitation therapy, ultrasound myography and statistics, forming the comprehensive conservative treatment team including scoliosis screening, diagnosis and treatment. Simultaneously, Xin Miao Funding Center is cooperating with the Student Health Cooperation Center of Peking University Institute of Child and Adolescent Health along with Scoliosis Center of Primary and Middle School Students of Guangzhou.
In ” Guang Dong Sheng Xin Miao Ji Zhu Ce Wan Yu Fang Zhong Xin”, with the help of Scolioscan – the radiation free 3D ultrasound scoliosis assessment system, doctors can quickly and accurately perform assessment and early detection of scoliosis.

(2) Established “Xin Miao Treatment System of Scoliosis (XTS)”

The prevention system is the first kind of method created by experts from multiple disciplines such as surgical, epidemiology, medical physique, bracing, rehabilitation, ultrasound electromyography, statistics, etc. This system includes early screening, regular monitoring, comprehensive conservative treatments, and surgical treatment based on the “Xin Miao Treatment System of Scoliosis.” The system has made a breakthrough in the conservative treatment of 40˚-60˚ scoliosis that originally required surgery. As of November 2020, scoliosis screening for 2 million middle school students, more than 3,000 scoliosis surgeries, and more than 10,000 conservative treatments for scoliosis have been carried out.

(3) Recognition from the society

Honorary awards: Led the team to successively win many national and provincial social honors, such as “Guangdong May Fourth Youth Collective Award”, “Top-10 Touching People of Guangdong”, “Chinese Good Man”, “Good Doctor in China”, “Guangdong Good Man”, “Good Doctor in Yangcheng (Guangzhou)”, “Guangdong Kapok Cup Outstanding Poverty Alleviation Project” and “Excellent in charity project of social organization in Guangdong province”.

He has won more than ten research topics from national major R&D projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China, major provincial scientific research projects, Sun Yat-sen University 5010 clinical projects, etc., with a total scientific research funding of 9 million+ Yuan. He has published more than 100 SCI and core journal papers as the first author or corresponding author. He has won 6 patents in China, two Second Prizes in provincial, and five Third Prizes.
